Y Family –

March 17, 2020

Dear Members of the Y Family,
As you may already be aware, Governor Walz made an executive order to close bars, restaurants and other entertainment venues as of 5pm Tuesday, March 17th . His declaration includes gyms and fitness centers. With this order we are forced to close our facility to the public beginning, Tuesday March 17th at 5pm until Friday March, 27th at which time we will reassess the situation. While this decision was made for us, it is still an uneasy situation, as we all know how integral our Y community is to our members, staff, and volunteers. We are relationship builders with a passion for bringing people together to reach common goals.

As this is all happening quickly, we do not currently have all the answers, though I can share the following:

  • We will keep you updated on the situation via email, on our website and on our social media channels.
  • Our Fitness Team will be active on social media, encouraging you and the rest of our family to remain on your health journey, and to support everyone’s wellbeing and mental health.
  • We are introducing Y360 , an on-demand fitness program for adults and kids to do at home which you can access today!

For those of you who are able, we ask you to continue your dues without interruption. We have gone through a very big undertaking transitioning to this new building while still needing to maintain our old facility. Your support will allow us to continue our mission of strengthening and supporting our community and serving you when we open again! If you prefer to put your membership on hold, please complete this short form to allow us to start the process.

COVID-19 has created enormous uncertainty; however, how we manage it is in our control. Join us in creating a history that demonstrates how our family came together and served those who needed us the most. It is in times of darkness that we tend to shine our greatest light on one another; I think our brightest days are ahead. For 67 years here in Austin, our Y has taken on challenges, and found solutions. This time will be no different!  I promise that we will reopen at first chance, and hope that you will find it in your heart to continue to support us.

Best regards,
Diane Baker
Executive Director
